Congress Privacy Policy
1. What is the Congress?
The Third International Spiritist Congress Joanna De Angelis (“the Congress”) is an event organised by The Spiritist Society of Bournemouth (SSB) and to be held at the High Leigh Conference Centre, Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, England, between September 12th and 14th, 2025.
2. Who are we?
The Spiritist Society of Bournemouth is a charity registered in England with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (charity number 1209922 ). Our registered address is 36 Taverner Close, Poole, BH15 1UW, United Kingdom. We are the Congress organisers (referred to here as “SSB”, “our”,” us” or “we”). Speakers at the Congress come from other Spiritist charitable organisations. SSB is the data controller for the Congress. This means SSB decides how your personal data is processed and for what purposes.
3. Your personal data – what is it?
Personal data relates to a living individual who can be identified from that data. Identification can be by the information alone or in conjunction with any other information in the data controller’s possession or likely to come into such possession. The processing of your personal data is governed by United Kingdom law, principally the General Data Protection Regulations (the “GDPR”).
4. How we collect your data
We collect personal data from you when you make a donation or other payment to us or book to attend one of our events, such as the Congress or previous Congresses. The data you provide will be securely stored in each of these cases. Depending on the information you have provided and the purpose for us processing your data, this will likely include your name, address, telephone number, email address, event booking information and payment method and, where relevant, the donation amount, donation date and Gift Aid declaration.
5. Why we collect your data?

To administer and process your application, booking and payments to attend the Congress.

To maintain our accounts and financial records (including processing any gift aid donations).

To inform you of news, events, activities and services organised or promoted by SSB, including any future Congresses.
6. How long do we keep information?
All details required for Gift Aid claims are kept for a maximum of 5 years. All other contact details are kept until requested to be removed from our mailing lists and contact groups.
7. How do we process your personal data?
When you book online your place at the Congress you may pay for your ticket through our website by credit card or PayPal. Your payments are processed by a secure payment collection service provided by Wix Payments.
To successfully process your online booking, we will take your name, address, and other details. Then, you will be transferred to a secure page to enter your credit card or PayPal details and finalise the payment process. Wix will need to know certain information about you to process payment for the booking. By proceeding with your booking, you thereby consent to provide Wix with such information. Your credit card details will be kept secure by Wix and will not be revealed to the Congress organisers (SSB).
No data will be passed on to or used by third parties (except Wix Payments and PayPal, where needed for processing your payment to us), and your data will be kept safe. All physical data we hold will be kept locked away, and digital data will be stored on a passcode-protected device.
SSB complies with its obligations under the “GDPR” by keeping personal data up to date, storing and destroying it securely, not collecting or retaining excessive amounts of data, protecting personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, and disclosure, and ensuring that appropriate technical measures are in place to protect personal data.
8. What is the legal basis for processing your personal data?
The processing is necessary for your contract with us to book your place at the Congress and manage your booking, including your consent as the data subject when making the booking.
9. Your data protection rights
Under data protection law, you have rights, including:

Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify personal data you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

10. Contact us if you have a concern
Should you have a complaint about how we are processing your data, we encourage you to contact us in the first instance and we will investigate it. To make a complaint, to request a change to the way we process your data or to exercise any of your rights you can e-mail us at spiritistsocietyofbournemouth@gmail.com . We will make every effort to address your concerns. However, if you are not satisfied with our response you can make a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
